US Ambassador Guilfoyle calls Greece-US ties ‘stronger than ever’
US Ambassador to Athens Kimberly Guilfoyle has described the relationship between Greece and the United States as ‘bolder and stronger than ever.’ In an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, she characterized Greece as an ‘extremely stable and reliable ally’ and noted Washington’s strong interest in directing both government and private capital into the country.
Guilfoyle highlighted several key pillars of the bilateral partnership, including defense agreements, American investments, and energy diplomacy aimed at addressing challenges posed by Russia and China. She specifically pointed to Greece’s potential to play a leading role in the region’s energy future, citing progress on the ‘Vertical Corridor’ and expanded cooperation with Serbia and North Macedonia.
Regarding Northern Greece, the Ambassador compared the dynamic of the Thessaloniki region to the peak of Silicon Valley. Additionally, she noted that the upcoming visit of Marco Rubio to Greece is substantive rather than merely symbolic, intended to foster productive discussions and express gratitude for Greek cooperation.
