At least 14 people were killed in two separate shooting incidents across the United States on Friday and Saturday.
In Erie, Pennsylvania, a shooting at a residence resulted in nine deaths, including children and the suspected gunman, who appears to have died by suicide. Police Chief Rick Lohah described the event as one of the most “heartbreaking and horrific” experiences of his career. Local authorities noted that the incident involved the deaths of two women found outside the home and seven others found inside.
In Douglas, Georgia, a separate shooting at a home on Friday evening left five people dead. While the total death toll from both incidents has reached 14, the specific motives for either attack have not yet been determined by law enforcement.
