US Health Insurance Open Enrollment for 2027

The Open Enrollment Period (OEP) for federal and state-run health insurance marketplaces is scheduled to begin on November 1, 2026. For plans starting as early as January 1, 2027, the enrollment window typically ends on December 15, 2026, though it may extend to January 15, 2027, for plans with later start dates.

While original Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits remain in place to assist eligible households, many shoppers may face higher premiums. This follows the expiration of enhanced premium tax credits in January 2026, which had previously provided larger subsidies and expanded eligibility for more households.

The marketplace is primarily intended for individuals without access to affordable employer-based coverage, such as self-employed workers, gig workers, or those between jobs. Plans continue to cover essential health benefits, including emergency services, preventative care, and prescription drugs.
