US Health Systems Gain New Accreditations for Robotic Surgery

Dr. Ghazi Zebari, a Kurdish surgeon, was awarded the Surgical Review Corporation’s “Surgeon of Excellence in Robotic Surgery” accreditation, coinciding with Willis‑Knighton Health’s designation as a Center of Excellence in robotic surgery in the United States.

Ballad Health received the SRC Network of Excellence accreditation for its systemwide robotic‑assisted surgery program. Three of its hospitals – Franklin Woods Community Hospital, Bristol Regional Medical Center and Holston Valley Medical Center – were named Centers of Excellence, and 23 physicians were recognized as Surgeons of Excellence, with four earning Master Surgeon status. The system is investing $15 million to expand robotic surgery to additional rural Appalachian hospitals, bringing 23 robotic systems to ten facilities and having performed nearly 30,000 robotic cases since 2018. “The Network of Excellence designation reflects years of intentional investment in both innovation and quality,” said Alan Levine, CEO of Ballad Health.
