US Homeland Security Secretary reassures public after Flydubai mid-air stabbing
U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin stated there are “no credible threats” to the United States following a mid-air attack on a Flydubai flight bound for Israel. The incident involved a co-pilot allegedly attempting to crash the aircraft by stabbing the captain in the cockpit.
A catastrophe was averted when the captain managed to unlock the cockpit door, allowing passengers and a relief crew to overpower the attacker. The aircraft, which experienced sharp drops and turbulence during the confrontation, landed safely in Saudi Arabia.
Flydubai acknowledged that an “altercation occurred in the flight deck.” Aviation security officials are currently reviewing existing safety protocols in response to the event.
