U.S. House Calls for Classified Briefings on Noncitizen Voter Registrations
Newly declassified Department of Homeland Security data indicate that roughly 278,000 non‑citizens are registered to vote in federal elections, based on a review of four states. The claim was highlighted by former President Donald Trump and amplified by reports of non‑citizen ballots in New Jersey and other states.
The House Committee on Administration has asked for a classified, member‑level briefing from DHS, the FBI and the acting DNI on the scale of the registrations and alleged Chinese cyber threats to election infrastructure. Chairman Bryan Steil (R‑WI) said the briefing is needed to assess potential legislative reforms.
Separately, the conservative watchdog Judicial Watch reported that Virginia’s Department of Elections removed 6,531 non‑citizen registrations between June 2024 and June 2026. Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton called the figure “disturbing beyond belief” and warned it signals a national crisis in election integrity.
