US House Oversight Committee investigates Delaware AI company proposal
The US House Oversight Committee is investigating a legislative proposal in Delaware that aims to create companies managed almost exclusively by software. James Comer, the Republican Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, has formally requested that Delaware Governor Matt Meyer provide relevant documentation regarding the plan by November 9, 2026.
Republican lawmakers expressed concerns that the initiative could create loopholes in liability and oversight frameworks. They warned that such a model might allow influential technology corporations and investors to evade legal responsibility for reckless actions and potentially manipulate state regulatory mechanisms. To prevent the dilution of liability standards, the committee is considering federal legislation that would limit the scope of state-level AI regulations.
