U.S. illegal immigration numbers double under Biden border policies

A report cited by Judicial Watch says the Biden administration’s approach to the southern border, including labeling Vice President Kamala Harris as a “border czar” and allocating large sums of aid to Central America to address root causes, coincided with a rise in unauthorized migrants. The number of illegal entrants from the targeted region grew from about 2.05 million in 2019 to roughly 4.3 million by the end of Biden’s term, while the total U.S. unauthorized immigrant population reached an estimated 15.8 million in mid‑2024. The increase was driven by higher border arrivals and expanded humanitarian parole programs that allowed migrants from Afghanistan, Ukraine, Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, Venezuela and other countries to enter and remain pending removal proceedings.

At a separate event in Minnesota, Senator Amy Klobuchar faced boos and laughter when she claimed to have secured the border, highlighting the political backlash and partisan disputes surrounding the administration’s immigration strategy.
