US-India Economic Partnership Expands in Karnataka, Says Ambassador Sergio Gor

U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor told a gathering at the Quantum exhibition in Bengaluru that American companies view India, and especially Karnataka, as a key investment destination. He noted that more than 1,000 U.S. firms now operate in the state, a figure that continues to grow. Bilateral trade has risen from about $20 billion a decade ago to over $240 billion today, reflecting deepening cooperation across defence, healthcare, technology and critical supply chains. India supplies roughly 40 percent of the United States’ generic pharmaceuticals and conducts more joint military exercises with the U.S. than with any other country. Gor highlighted India’s recent invitation to join the U.S.-led Pax Silica initiative, a trusted‑supply‑chain program aimed at securing AI, semiconductor and critical‑mineral supply chains. He also cited recent meetings with representatives of Meta, Rolls‑Royce and Netflix as evidence of growing corporate interest.
