US-Iran negotiations involve secret IRGC communication channel
President Donald Trump has confirmed the existence of a secret communication channel between the United States and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) aimed at facilitating peace negotiations with Iran.
Reports indicate that IRGC leadership has signaled support for official Iranian negotiators, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. This support was reportedly conveyed through intermediaries, including a communication facilitated by Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region, to IRGC Commander General Ahmad Vahidi. While the U.S. administration previously considered Erbil, Iraq, as a potential site for direct talks, Iranian representatives declined due to security concerns regarding potential Israeli intelligence presence in the region.
During a recent interview, Trump stated that he is not rushed by deadlines regarding a permanent end to hostilities or a nuclear agreement, asserting that mid-term elections do not influence his military strategy. However, Trump issued a sharp warning to Oman, suggesting the country could face military action if it obstructs U.S. interests during the negotiation process.
