US Jewish institutions spend over $1 billion on security
Jewish institutions in the United States spent more than $1 billion on security in 2025, marking a 33% increase from the $765 million spent in 2024. This surge in spending follows a rise in antisemitic hate crimes since the October 7, 2023, attacks on Israel.
According to an analysis by the Jewish Federations of North America, Jewish people accounted for over 60% of all religiously motivated hate crimes in the US in 2025, despite representing less than 3% of the population. Reported incidents include attempts to attack a synagogue preschool in Michigan, the torching of a historic synagogue in Mississippi, and rising rates of vandalism and physical assaults in New York City.
