U.S. job market to add 5.9 million positions by 2035
Projections from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) indicate that the American economy is expected to add approximately 5.9 million new jobs between 2025 and 2035. While artificial intelligence is expected to transform various sectors, it is not predicted to simply replace jobs, but rather to increase demand for specialists in data, software, and security.
The healthcare and social assistance sector is poised for the most significant growth, potentially adding over 2.2 million jobs, representing about 37 percent of total employment growth. Notable roles include advanced practice registered nurses, physician assistants, and healthcare managers.
In the technology sector, demand for data scientists is projected to rise by nearly 35 percent due to the increasing volume of corporate data and AI development. Other high-growth areas include computer and information research scientists, information security specialists, and software developers.
