U.S. Judge Rejects Appeal to Keep Trump's Name on Kennedy Center

U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper denied a motion by the John F. Kennedy Center’s board to stay the removal of former President Donald Trump’s name from the venue. The board had sought an appeal after a May 29 ruling ordered the name’s removal, arguing the center would suffer “irreparable harm.” Cooper found the center’s lawyers had not demonstrated a likelihood of success or such harm.

The Kennedy Center had already removed “Trump” from its website and instructed staff to delete the name from signage, social media, email signatures and other materials. Scaffolding was erected in front of the building where both Trump’s and Kennedy’s names had been displayed, and the board may still pursue the matter in an appellate court.
