US Justice Department launches record denaturalization crackdown

The U.S. Department of Justice filed 25 civil denaturalization cases in a two‑week period, the largest such effort in the agency’s history. The filings target naturalized citizens from 17 countries who are alleged to have obtained citizenship through fraud, concealment of criminal records, or other misrepresentations. Charges span violent offenses such as attempted murder and child sexual abuse, as well as financial and identity fraud. Notable defendants include Tatiana Power, a Moldovan citizen accused of distributing child‑abuse material; Jose Luis Martinez‑Zavala, a Mexican national who concealed an aggravated sexual‑assault conviction; Dwyane Robinson, a Jamaican former soldier convicted of attempted murder; and Narinder Singh, an Indian‑American accused of using multiple false identities to enter the United States. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said citizenship must be obtained “lawfully and honestly,” and the DOJ plans to continue pursuing similar cases.

The 25 new cases bring the total filed under the Trump administration to 123, marking a significant escalation in the government’s effort to revoke citizenship obtained through illegal means.
