US kidney care reform plans impact dialysis providers
Shares of dialysis providers have faced significant downward pressure following the release of a new kidney care reform plan by the US Department of Health and Human Services. The proposal has introduced uncertainty regarding the future of the industry, particularly concerning competition and patient care models.
In New York, shares of DaVita fell by more than 7 percent. The German company Fresenius Medical Care (FMC), which maintains a heavy reliance on the US market, also saw its stock decline, dropping approximately 3.7 percent in after-hours trading on Tradegate.
Analysts have expressed concern over the potential for structural changes. JPMorgan analyst David Adlington noted that while the plan contains significant rhetoric, it offers few concrete measures. However, the reopening of debates regarding financial support for patients and an increased emphasis on kidney transplantations are viewed as significant risk factors for the sector. UBS expert Graham Doyle described the document as a “new and enormous factor for concern.”
