US strikes hit multiple sites in Iran's Bushehr province amid Hormuz tensions

The United States carried out its third air operation of the week against Iran, launching ten rockets that hit four locations in the Bushehr province, including three sites in the city of Bushehr and one near the town of Chowgadeh. No casualties were reported, but the attacks are part of a broader campaign that has targeted roughly 140 Iranian military sites over the past days.

The strikes were presented as a response to Iranian attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, where a Cypriot‑flagged tanker was hit, a crew member went missing and the vessel suffered fire damage. U.S. officials said the operations aim to degrade Iran’s ability to strike at shipping and protect maritime traffic.

Separately, the European Union and the Gulf Cooperation Council condemned Iran’s attacks on merchant ships and reiterated the principle of freedom of navigation in the Hormuz Strait, warning that such actions threaten regional stability and international trade.
