US lawmakers demand answers over Trump associates' activities in Republika Srpska
United States lawmakers are seeking clarification regarding the involvement of political advisors linked to Donald Trump in Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Congressman Wesley Bell and Congresswoman Dina Titus have raised concerns over the activities of James Blair and Chris LaCivita during the period leading up to the October 4 elections.
Reports indicate that the advisors spent several days in the region providing counsel on voting matters, such as new voting machines. It is alleged that they received hundreds of thousands of dollars for these services through a Washington-based law firm hired by the entity government.
Lawmakers are questioning whether the White House, the State Department, or the US Embassy in Sarajevo were notified of this travel or if the engagement constitutes an attempt to influence foreign elections. The controversy has also drawn criticism from within the Republican Party, including figures such as Steve Bannon and Senator Thom Tillis, who have raised questions regarding potential conflicts of interest and the impact on US foreign policy.
