U.S. Lecce appeals to FIFA over Lameck Banda contract dispute

U.S. Lecce has officially contacted FIFA, FIGC, and CAF regarding a contract dispute with Zambian attacker Lameck Banda. The club is seeking institutional intervention to protect the validity of sports contracts after reports emerged that Banda might unilaterally terminate his agreement, which runs until 2027.

Reports indicate that the Libyan club Al Swehli SC has shown significant interest in the player, allegedly offering a contract with a salary near 1.6 million euros. Banda is reportedly in Cairo with a delegation from Al Swehli SC to finalize terms.

The friction stems from disagreements over a unilateral contract extension exercised by Lecce. The club has noted that the player has become unreachable, even to his own agents, and expresses concern that this situation could set a precedent regarding the stability of player-club agreements in Italy.
