US Libraries Roll Out Summer Reading Initiatives in Pasadena and Boston

The Pasadena Public Library has launched its annual Summer Reading Program, themed “On the Road to Reading,” to run from June 13 through August 1. Marked by a Route 66 celebration, the program offers weekly challenges, BINGO cards and a map of themed attractions across ten branches, with events such as live music, LEGO engineering, craft workshops and a magic show by Zany Zoë. Registration is open online or at any branch.

The Boston Public Library Fund is introducing a 2026 Summer Readathon from June 22 to August 22 aimed at reversing a national decline in reading for pleasure. Participants set personal reading goals, create fundraising pages and seek donations to support BPL youth programs. The campaign emphasizes the importance of reading for imagination and community connection and provides a platform for donors to contribute per book or per hour read.
