The United States logistics sector is undergoing a significant shift toward high-density automation. While North American markets previously focused on mobile robotics and humanoid technology, there is a growing trend toward adopting European-style automated high-bay warehouses. These massive silo-like structures utilize automated pallet handling to maximize vertical space, though the transition faces challenges regarding fire safety regulations, customs clarity, and labor issues.

In a specific application of this technological shift, FedEx is expanding its use of specialized robotic systems at its Hagerstown hub in Maryland. In partnership with Dexterity, the company is moving from a pilot phase to full operational use of 'Physical-AI' systems. These Mech-robots use the Foresight world model to autonomously load truck trailers, optimizing for space utilization, load stability, and processing speed in real-time.
