US Marine Corps meets fiscal year 2026 recruitment goals
The United States Marine Corps has met its recruitment goals for fiscal year 2026. The service reported the enlistment of 31,250 new Marines, 1,672 officers, and 3,503 prior-service reserve Marines.
Major General Walker M. Field, Commanding General of the Marine Corps Recruiting Command, described the achievement as a “historic, department-wide rebound,” attributing the success to the execution of recruiting forces and the willingness of young Americans to serve. The service noted that the recruitment environment was the most favorable in five years, partly due to the nation's 250th anniversary.
In addition to meeting the 2026 targets, the Marine Corps has already contracted more than half of its mission for fiscal year 2027. This follows similar successes in other military branches, including the Navy, Army, Air Force, and Space Force, which have also met or exceeded their respective recruitment goals.
