US Marine Osprey lands on Australian warship as Japan vows defense industry boost
A United States Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey from the Marine Rotational Force – Darwin landed on the Australian amphibious assault ship HMAS Canberra during a force‑integration training exercise off Queensland. Lieutenant Commander Steve Dickfos said the activity demonstrated how shared training, culture and language build trust for real‑world responses.
Japan’s Ministry of Defense released a new white paper warning that China’s military posture presents the greatest strategic challenge in the Indo‑Pacific. The paper pledges to strengthen the domestic defence industry, double profit margins for contractors and deepen US‑Japan cooperation on technology, citing the Russian invasion of Ukraine as a lesson on the importance of unmanned systems and new ways of warfare.
