U.S. Marine Robert Gilman Hospitalized During Russian Imprisonment
Former U.S. Marine Robert Gilman, who is serving a lengthy prison term in Russia, was admitted to a hospital, according to the Kommersant newspaper. His lawyer said he is receiving treatment but no diagnosis has been released. Gilman was first jailed in 2022 for assaulting a police officer while intoxicated, and his sentence was later extended after convictions for assaults on prison staff and a state investigator, bringing his total term to ten years. The illness prompted a court in Voronezh to postpone a hearing on a prosecutor’s appeal. Gilman is one of nine Americans on a list Washington seeks to have released from Russian custody.
