US marks 250th Independence anniversary, hailed by El Salvador and Mexican presidents
The United States celebrated the 250th anniversary of its independence on July 4, 2026. President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador posted a message congratulating the American people, emphasizing the strong bilateral relationship in security, trade, investment and the role of the large Salvadoran community in the US.
President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico also sent greetings, noting that all nations have the right to be free and independent. Speaking in Michoacán, she linked the celebration to her government’s social programs for women and education reforms, while reaffirming Mexico’s respect for the United States.
Both leaders used the occasion to highlight cooperation and shared values between their countries and the United States.
