U.S. Marshals task force injured in Missouri deck collapse

Nine members of a law enforcement task force were injured on July 21 when a second-story wooden deck suddenly collapsed in Huntsville, Missouri. The incident occurred while officers from the U.S. Marshals Service, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department, the Moberly Police Department, and the North Missouri Drug Task Force were attempting to serve an arrest warrant.

Body camera footage captured the moment the structure gave way, sending the heavily armed officers to the ground. Authorities reported that five officers were hospitalized with injuries including broken bones, concussions, and torn muscles, while others were treated for injuries consistent with a serious fall. Officials noted it was a miracle that no firearms accidentally discharged during the plunge.

The operation was part of ‘Operation Adam’s Watch,’ a multi-week enforcement initiative targeting fugitives who failed to register as sex offenders. The target of the warrant, 26-year-old Jacob Alexander Munoz, was not present during the collapse but surrendered to authorities later that day. Munoz, a convicted sex offender, had allegedly stopped complying with parole registration requirements.
