US media networks boycott Trump’s UN General Assembly speech
Major US broadcasters, including ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox News, CNN, and MS NOW, have reportedly coordinated a boycott of President Donald Trump’s address to the United Nations General Assembly. This action follows the White House’s decision to ban journalists from CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from accessing the executive mansion, a move that has prompted claims of First Amendment violations from the affected outlets.
During his UN address, MS NOW anchor Stephanie Ruhle provided real-time fact-checking of the President’s claims. Ruhle challenged assertions regarding the number of wars settled, the scale of foreign investment pledges, and vessel transit numbers in the Strait of Hormuz. MS NOW senior national security reporter David Rohde also characterized the speech as being “riddled with false claims and exaggerations.” While Fox News aired the speech in its entirety, CNN did not broadcast the address.
