US medical groups issue independent vaccine guidance for flu, COVID-19 and RSV
A coalition of prominent United States medical organizations has released independent vaccination guidance for influenza, COVID-19, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The move comes in response to a lack of updated recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which has faced disruptions in its traditional advisory process due to legal challenges and policy shifts under the Trump administration.
The participating groups include the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the Infectious Diseases Society of America. The new guidelines provide tailored advice based on age, pregnancy status, and other individual health factors.
Medical experts emphasized that recent scientific evidence confirms these vaccines remain safe and effective at preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and death. The coalition stated that the independent guidance is intended to provide clear, science-based direction to patients and clinicians while the federal regulatory process remains in flux.
