US-Mexico border and Costa Rica seize cocaine shipments worth millions

U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized a shipment of presumptive cocaine worth an estimated $3.7 million hidden among cucumbers on a truck entering the United States at the Reynosa‑Pharr international bridge. Inspectors located 112 concealed packages containing about 126 kg of cocaine after a secondary inspection aided by detection dogs. The cargo, the truck and trailer were seized, and HSI agents began an investigation into the origin and destination of the drugs.

Costa Rican authorities intercepted the fishing vessel "Sol de Oro VI" in the Pacific Ocean, about 289 km off Golfito, and uncovered an unprecedented 560 kg of liquid cocaine along with 95 packets of powdered cocaine, each about one kilogram. The operation, conducted by the National Coast Guard with intelligence support from the Colombian Navy, resulted in the detention of four Costa Rican nationals. The seizure was hailed as a historic first for the country’s drug‑interdiction efforts.
