US-Mexico border crossings pause traffic for September 11 anniversary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) implemented a brief pause in northbound traffic at several land border crossings on Friday to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. The temporary suspension of operations occurred at 5:46 a.m. local time, coinciding with the moment the first plane struck the World Trade Center in New York.

The ceremony included a minute of silence to honor the victims of the 2001 attacks and to recognize the sacrifices made by first responders, law enforcement, and military personnel. The pause affected the San Ysidro, Otay Mesa, and Calexico West ports of entry.

Operations resumed immediately following the tribute. Travelers were advised to plan for minor delays and to monitor wait times through official CBP resources.
