US midterm elections: Polling shifts and cryptocurrency outlook
As the U.S. midterm elections approach, recent polling and market analysis suggest a complex landscape for both political parties and the cryptocurrency sector.
While Democrats have maintained a generic congressional ballot advantage, a recent Harvard-Harris poll of likely voters shows Republicans leading 51 percent to 49 percent. Analysts point to potential polling bias, shifts in voter sentiment, and declining engagement among Democratic-leaning voters as factors that could impact the outcome.
In the financial sector, VanEck’s head of digital assets research, Matthew Sigel, suggests that a Democratic victory in the midterms may not negatively impact Bitcoin. Despite concerns that Republican control might be more favorable for crypto, Sigel notes that Bitcoin reached multiple all-time highs during the Biden administration and benefited from the SEC's approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs. However, other altcoins may face greater challenges due to regulatory uncertainty and the potential delay of federal frameworks like the Clarity Act.
