US military releases footage of rescue mission in Iran after F-15E shoot-down
The US military has released footage documenting a rescue mission in central Iran following the shoot-down of an F-15E Strike Eagle, callsign DUDE 44, during Operation Epic Fury near Isfahan. According to US reports, the aircraft was struck by an Iranian shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missile.
The two crew members ejected and landed several kilometers apart in rugged, mountainous desert terrain. The pilot was located and recovered within approximately six hours. The weapons systems officer, who sustained serious injuries during landing, survived for roughly 50 hours in the mountains before being rescued.
The footage also shows US drones and bombers conducting strikes against Iranian Revolutionary Guard units in the vicinity to suppress enemy forces and secure the area for the advancing rescue team.
