US military reports 18 deaths and 756 injuries in Iran conflict

The Pentagon has released updated casualty figures regarding the conflict with Iran that began on February 28. According to official data from the Defense Casualty Analysis System (DCAS), 18 US service members have died and at least 756 soldiers have been wounded since the start of the hostilities.

The Department of Defense categorizes the casualties into two distinct phases. The initial phase, designated as ‘Operation Epic Wrath’, resulted in 14 deaths and 417 injuries. Of those deaths, seven were attributed to enemy attacks, while seven were recorded as accidents or incidents under investigation.

A second phase, categorized under ‘Overseas Operations’, covers losses occurring after July 7. This period has seen 4 deaths, all from the US Army, and approximately 340 injuries. The US Army has sustained the highest number of casualties, with over 580 injuries reported among its personnel. Officials have noted that a significant portion of the injuries involve traumatic brain injuries.
