US military faces critical missile shortages after five months of war with Iran
After five months of conflict with Iran, the United States is facing critical shortages of key offensive and defensive weaponry. Reports indicate the US Army has exhausted nearly all of its ATACMS and Precision Strike Missiles (PrSM). Additionally, defensive capabilities have been significantly impacted, with approximately 80% of THAAD interceptors and roughly half of Patriot interceptors reportedly expended.
In response, the Pentagon is urging the defense industry to drastically increase production capacity. Deputy Secretary of Defense Steve Feinberg has requested that industry leaders submit plans within 21 days to accelerate delivery schedules and expand production for essential munitions.

Former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta characterized the situation as a result of poor planning, noting the increased risk to US deterrence capabilities.
