U.S. Mint unveils 2026 $1 coin featuring Donald Trump

The U.S. Mint has unveiled a new $1 coin featuring President Donald J. Trump to commemorate the United States Semiquincentennial in 2026. Authorized under the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020, the coin is part of a program allowing the Treasury secretary to issue new $1 coins for one year starting January 1, 2026.

The obverse of the coin features a portrait of Trump, designed by Chief Engraver Joseph Menna based on an official White House photograph, alongside the inscriptions ‘LIBERTY,’ ‘IN GOD WE TRUST,’ and ‘1776 ~ 2026.’ The reverse depicts the Presidential Seal, designed by former Chief Engraver Frank Gasparro, featuring an eagle with a shield marked with the number ‘250.’

Produced at the Philadelphia Mint, the circulating-finish coin will be composed of copper, zinc, manganese, and nickel. The Mint expects to offer numismatic product options, such as coin rolls and bags, in late fall 2026.
