US missile strike hits Larak Island amid Iran's denial of nuclear activity
On a reported afternoon, United States forces launched a missile that struck Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iran's Tasnim news agency. Residents near the island heard a strong explosion at 14:48 local time (13:48 Greek time) and Iranian authorities said they are assessing possible damage.
Simultaneously, Tehran reiterated that there is no secret underground nuclear facility at Kolang mountain, also referred to as "Peakax," dismissing U.S. claims as a pretext for aggression. Iranian diplomatic spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said any nuclear activity has been fully disclosed to the IAEA and that Washington's focus on Kolang is unfounded.
The incident follows earlier remarks by former U.S. President Donald Trump threatening to strike the Kolang zone and reflects renewed tension between Washington and Tehran.
