US Montauban defeats FC Grenoble 20-17 in Pro D2 home opener

US Montauban secured a 20-17 victory against FC Grenoble in their first home match of the Pro D2 championship at Sapiac. Despite high temperatures of 35°C, the match remained highly competitive and uncertain until the final seconds.

Grenoble took an early lead, scoring an eight-point advantage through an Otunuku Pauta try and a penalty within the first few minutes. Montauban struggled initially, trailing 0-14, but managed to spark a comeback through a try by Josua Vici and subsequent penalties by Enzo Hervé.

In the second half, Montauban increased the pressure. Although a try by Vaiolini Ekuasi was disallowed following a video review, Stéphane Ahmed scored to bring the score to 17-14. Montauban eventually took the lead to finish the match 20-17. Before the kickoff, the club held a tribute to Raymond Gadoin, a former international player who passed away in June.
