United States and Montenegro deepen police partnership and economic collaboration
Montenegrin Minister of Public Works Majda Adžović met in Washington with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Daniel Lawton to discuss strengthening the strategic partnership between Montenegro and the United States. She said more than 15 American companies from the energy, infrastructure, technology and cyber‑security sectors expressed interest in investing in Montenegro, and the talks covered joint projects and capacity‑building to modernise the Montenegrin police force. U.S. agencies including the State Department, EXIM Bank, the Center for Development and Partnership (CLDP) and the U.S. Trade Ministry participated, and officials pledged continued support for Montenegro’s police, with representatives of the INL and ICITAP programmes present.
U.S. Embassy representatives later visited the Forensic Center of the Police Directorate in Danilovgrad, Montenegro, where Police Director Lazar Šćepanović presented recent results in the fight against organised crime and corruption. The meeting, attended by officials from the State Department, INL, ICITAP, FBI and other agencies, reaffirmed U.S. commitment to further cooperation, joint projects and capacity‑building to enhance the police’s operational capabilities.
