US Navy awards billion‑dollar contracts to Northrop Grumman and Boeing

The U.S. Navy announced two major procurement contracts aimed at modernizing its carrier‑based aircraft fleet. Northrop Grumman Systems Corp. received a $1.196 billion undefinitized cost‑no‑fee contract to produce, deliver, and support three new‑build E‑2D Advanced Hawkeye Block II early‑warning aircraft through December 2031. Separately, Boeing was granted a $25.1 million contract modification to integrate advanced electronic‑warfare A‑kits on Block III F/A‑18E/F Super Hornet aircraft. The work covers non‑recurring engineering, design, fabrication, and delivery of four flight‑test kits, with installation verification and checkout, and will be completed by December 2028.
