US Navy develops Silent Anvil torpedo system as Rostec deploys Be-200 aircraft

The United States Navy is developing a new anti-submarine warfare system known as Silent Anvil. The program, managed by the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), aims to increase the distance between aerial platforms and the point where a torpedo enters the water. The Navy is considering two concepts: a fully integrated weapon that can autonomously complete a mission from flight to underwater attack, or a modified torpedo equipped with a wing kit, radio link, and guidance system to glide toward a distant target.

Separately, Russian state corporation Rostec is deploying Be-200 amphibious aircraft to assist in firefighting efforts. These aircraft are noted for their ability to scoop up to 10 tons of water from a surface in 15 seconds, making them effective for combating forest fires in mountainous terrain.
