US Navy Super Hornet displays 'Sub Buster' marking

A US Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet from Strike Fighter Squadron 41 (VFA-41) has returned to Lemoore Naval Air Station with a 'Sub Buster' kill marking, suggesting the aircraft may have been involved in destroying an Iranian submarine.

The marking, displayed on aircraft tail number 102, features a silhouette of a broken submarine. While the US Navy has not officially confirmed a submarine kill by the fighter jet, the symbol resembles a Kilo-class submarine. This follows reports from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth that US forces destroyed 11 Iranian submarines, including the Taregh, which was reportedly destroyed while in port.

The aircraft was deployed as part of the USS Abraham Lincoln air wing during Operation Epic Fury in the Middle East. Analysts note that while the marking is significant, it remains unclear if the Super Hornet delivered the weapon directly or provided support for another platform in the strike.
