US Navy MQ-4C Triton drone stuck at Florida naval station runway
A US Navy MQ-4C Triton maritime reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has become stuck at the end of a runway at Mayport Naval Station in Florida.
Images shared on social media show the large UAV positioned at the end of runway number 5, near the area where the St. Johns River meets the Atlantic Ocean. It is currently unknown whether the incident occurred during takeoff or landing, or what specific cause led to the aircraft becoming stuck.
The MQ-4C Triton, manufactured by Northrop Grumman, is a high-altitude, long-endurance platform designed for maritime intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance. Because the aircraft is operated remotely, no crew members were on board at the time of the incident. The US Navy has not yet released an official statement regarding the extent of the damage or the circumstances surrounding the event.
