U.S. Navy retires C-2 Greyhound carrier‑onboard delivery aircraft

The United States Navy concluded six decades of service for the C‑2A Greyhound, its dedicated carrier‑onboard delivery (COD) aircraft. The final flight, carried out by Fleet Logistics Support Squadron VRC‑40 “Rawhides,” departed Norfolk, was escorted by all six Blue Angels, and landed at NAS Pensacola after an arrested landing on USS Nimitz.

A sundown ceremony highlighted the aircraft’s legacy, with Rear Admiral Rich Brophy and Cmdr. Paul Ingram speaking on its role in every major conflict since 1966, transporting over 100 million pounds of cargo and more than 2.5 million passengers. The Navy will replace the Greyhound with the CMV‑22B Osprey for future COD missions.
