U.S. news networks boycott White House coverage after media bans
Major American news networks have launched an unprecedented protest against the White House decision to ban CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the premises. The ban, which included the revocation of press credentials, prompted the remaining members of the White House television pool—ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox—to indefinitely suspend their participation in joint coverage.
In solidarity, several major news organizations, including the Associated Press, AFP, The Washington Post, and The New York Times, declined to publish photographs of presidential events on Monday. As a result, the live television coverage of President Donald Trump’s inauguration of a new White House helipad and his departure for the United Nations General Assembly was absent.
CNN, MS NOW, and Politico have initiated legal action regarding the ban. President Trump responded via Truth Social, suggesting that other media outlets spreading what he characterized as false information would face similar consequences. A court hearing is expected to take place in Washington.
