Digital assets and tokenization drive shift in global finance
The financial sector is experiencing a shift toward digital assets, driven by the convergence of stablecoins, tokenization, and artificial intelligence. Industry experts and regulators are noting the increasing integration of decentralized finance (DeFi) into traditional financial systems.
In the United States, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) recently introduced a five-year exemption for trading tokenized equities. This move allows for digital tokens representing stocks to be traded on blockchains, potentially enabling fractional ownership, 24/7 trading, and instant settlement. Additionally, the passage of the GENIUS Act has helped standardize rules for stablecoins, focusing on reserve transparency and interoperability.
Market analysts, including Dan Tapiero, suggest that a new bull phase has begun in core digital assets, citing revenue growth in stablecoins and tokenization. Joseph Chalom, CEO of Sharplink Inc., emphasized the need to prepare for this emerging paradigm of programmable money.
