US Open announces wild cards including Venus Williams and Gael Monfils

The United States Tennis Association (USTA) has announced the wild card recipients for the 2026 US Open. Among the notable names are 46-year-old Venus Williams and 2017 champion Sloane Stephens for the women’s singles main draw. Venus Williams becomes the oldest entrant in the tournament's singles history since 1981.

On the men’s side, 39-year-old Gael Monfils, who is in his final professional season, and Alexei Popyrin have been awarded wild cards. Other male recipients include Michael Zheng, Martin Damm, J.J. Wolf, Sebastian Gorzny, and Jack Kennedy. One men's wild card spot remains unassigned, with speculation surrounding potential candidates like Stan Wawrinka.

In the women’s category, one wild card remains unallocated. There is significant anticipation that this final spot may be reserved for Serena Williams, should she choose to participate in the tournament following her recent return to competitive play.
