US Open announces record $108 million prize purse for 2026
The United States Tennis Association has announced a record-breaking $108 million total prize purse for the 2026 US Open. This represents a 20 percent increase from the $90 million awarded in 2025 and a 44 percent total increase over a two-year period.
Under the new payout structure, both the men’s and women’s singles champions will receive $5.5 million, the largest single-tournament winner’s check in tennis history. The tournament, scheduled to take place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center from August 23 to September 13, 2026, also features significant increases for early-round participants. Main draw first-round losers will earn $140,000, a 27 percent increase from the previous year, while first-round qualifiers will receive $32,000.
The financial adjustments align with equity standards, ensuring identical payouts for men’s and women’s singles across all rounds. Additionally, the prize money includes a $2 million contribution to a welfare fund, following demands from players for greater support through a Grand Slam player council.
