Alcaraz and Serena Williams to team up for US Open mixed doubles
Carlos Alcaraz and Serena Williams will team up for the mixed doubles at the 2026 US Open after receiving a wildcard from the USTA. This high-profile pairing marks a significant return to the tournament for Williams, who has not competed at the US Open since 2022. While Williams will not participate in the women's singles draw—a spot instead awarded to Sofia Kenin—her appearance in the mixed doubles is expected to be a major attraction.
Alcaraz, who is also competing in the singles draw to defend his title, returns to the court following a four-month absence due to a right wrist injury. The mixed doubles competition features a unique format and a $1 million prize for the winning duo. Other notable pairings in the tournament include Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenka, as well as defending champions Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori.
Additionally, the 2026 US Open will feature a record-breaking total prize pool of $108 million, a 20% increase from the previous year. The tournament begins in late August at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.
