US Open begins with player withdrawals and new broadcasting rights

The US Open begins with significant changes to the mixed doubles lineup. World number one Kateřina Siniaková and partner Henry Patten must compete in the qualifying rounds after failing to secure a direct spot in the main draw. In their place, Czech players Jakub Menšík and Karolína Muchová have been awarded wild cards, though they face a challenging opening match against qualifiers.

Additionally, Iga Światek has withdrawn from the mixed doubles competition to focus on her singles campaign following a demanding schedule in Toronto and Cincinnati. This withdrawal leaves Casper Ruud to partner with Diana Shnaiderova, as Daniil Medvedev opted to prioritize singles play in Winston-Salem.

Regarding media coverage, Warner Bros. Discovery will provide comprehensive broadcasting for the tournament via HBO Max and Eurosport across 45 European markets. This marks the first time the company will manage the primary television production for the entire event under an agreement with the USTA.
