US Open: Tien, Noskova, and Michelsen advance to key rounds
The US Open has seen several significant developments in the third and fourth rounds. American Learner Tien secured his first career US Open victory by defeating Jakub Mensik in a five-set match (6-3, 1-6, 6-7, 6-3, 6-4). The match was marked by controversy when Mensik requested security intervention to remove a disruptive, allegedly intoxicated spectator, leading to chants of “kick him out” from the crowd.
In the women’s draw, Linda Noskova reached the quarterfinals for the first time in her career after a hard-fought three-set victory over Marta Kostyuk (7-5, 5-7, 6-4). Noskova, who previously won Wimbledon, is set to face Aryna Sabalenka in the next round.
On the men’s side, unseeded American Alex Michelsen made a historic run, reaching his first Grand Slam quarterfinal without dropping a single set throughout the tournament. He is scheduled to face Frances Tiafoe in the upcoming round.
