US Open: Fran Jones exits as British singles hopes end

British representation at the US Open has concluded following the second-round exit of Fran Jones. After securing a first-round victory against Magda Linette, the 25-year-old qualifier lost in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, to the 14th seed, Iva Majoli.

Jones was the final British player remaining in the singles competition. Her exit follows the earlier defeat of British number one Katie Boulter, who lost 6-1, 6-0 to Karolina Muchova in a 58-minute match.

Other British players, including Harriet Dart, Jacob Fearnley, Toby Samuel, and Jan Choinski, were also eliminated during the opening rounds of the tournament.
